Miami and Cape Kennedy

We drove from Orlando to Miami, down Route 95 along Florida's east coast and stopping off at the Space Center at Cape Canaveral on the way. This was something that Linda had wanted to do for a really long time so we used the Miami apps to take us straight to the Space Center. On the way, she used the Miami apps to get some more information about the center and any special things we could do there. She also booked us tickets for two guided tours of the facility and a movie, Hubble 3D, at the Center's IMAX Theatre. Booking the tours on the way was suggested by the Miami app and it turned out to be a good idea as both these tours sells out really fast.

Anyway, towards evening we arrived in Miami and checked into our motel. We hadn't booked anything in advance but had decided to see where we got to each day and use the apps to find a place to stay nearby. It only took a few minutes to find a nice motel in Cutler Bay just south of Miami. This seemed like a good location because it put us halfway between Miami and the Everglades.

Sun, Sand and Swamps

This was the sun and sand section of our US visit. All we intended to do for 6 days and before flying out to New Orleans was to laze around on South Beach with a day trip to the Everglades. And that's just what we did – spent the day on the beach with breaks for a snack and a drink at one of the many beach bars during the day. Back to the motel to wash up and change and then use the Miami apps to decide where we wanted to go for the evening. Believe me, there's a lot to do in Miami, excellent restaurants (especially Cuban), great nightclubs or just walking along the promenade and the Miami nightlife apps were a great help suggesting something different every night.

We spent our last day at the Everglades. That was a mistake, especially as the apps had suggested a minimum of two days. What an amazing place, wild and beautiful and very, very mysterious. Next time we'll stay longer.
